York Vault is free to download for iPhone, iPad and Android. The App Store or Google Play shows the price of each plan in your currency before you buy. Download York Vault on the App Store or Google Play.

The rule we build to

Your files stay yours if you stop paying. Viewing, export, trash recovery, backup and restore of your own items never depend on a plan. A test in our build fails if any of these paths shows a paywall to someone whose subscription ended. How we enforce it.

Free

• Every lock type: PIN, passcode with letters, pattern, plus Face ID, Touch ID or a strong Android fingerprint or face unlock. A working calculator front if you want one.
• Recovery key, plus an optional 72-hour recovery through your Apple Account or your Google account.
• Cover code: a second code that opens a separate library.
• Private share links, encrypted, with fixed safe settings and a report button for anyone who receives one.
• Erase code: a code that opens the cover library and removes this phone’s keys to the others. An erase-all mode if you want one.
• Codes on single albums.
• Wrong-code photos and the attempts log.
• Neutral home screen icons and face-down quick exit.
• Encrypted backup of every item to your own iCloud, or your own Google Drive on Android, with a restore check.
• Export of every item, Trash and the viewer.
• Encrypted notes and voice notes.
• York Vault on iPad and Android tablets.
• Phone-to-phone transfer to a new phone, also between iPhone and Android.
• New items up to a set limit. Items you already have are never limited.

Plus

Everything in Free, and:

• No limit on new items.
• The Mac app.
• Sync between your devices on the same platform, through your own cloud. iPhone, iPad and Mac sync through iCloud. Android phones and tablets sync through Google Drive.
• Up to 8 libraries, each with its own code.
• Your own settings for private share links: expiry, number of opens, saving and screenshot protection.
• A two-step lock: Face ID or fingerprint and your code together.
• A location lock that opens only in places you choose.
• Smart search, duplicate review, and optimize storage, which keeps originals in your backup and downloads them when you open them.
• Face blur when you take a photo in York Vault, and playback of extra video formats.
• The private browser, extra icon styles and lock styles.
• Priority support.

Plus keeps your backup in your own iCloud or Google Drive.

Pro

Everything in Plus, and:

• York Cloud: encrypted storage on our servers for when your iCloud or Google Drive is full. We hold only encrypted data and no key.
• Sync between iPhone and Android, through York Cloud.
• The web app at app.yorkvault.com. Scan a QR code with your phone to see your library in a browser.
• Shared albums with people you choose, end-to-end encrypted. They work between iPhone and Android. The people you invite join on any plan, Free included.
• Share links larger than the Free size.

Family

• Pro for up to 6 people. Each person has a separate, private library. Nobody in the plan sees the items of another person.
• On the App Store, Family Sharing adds the people in your Apple family group.
• On Google Play, or across the two stores, you invite up to 5 people from Settings. Each person gets a one-time invite code.

Every safety feature stays in Free.

One plan on every device

A plan follows your library, not your phone. Buy Plus or Pro on the App Store or Google Play. The plan then works on every device where that library is: iPhone, iPad, Mac or Android. There is no account and no sign-in. You manage and cancel the plan in the store where you bought it. York Vault tells you which store that is.

Questions

Which plan do I need?

Free, if your library fits in the Free item limit. Plus, if your files fit in your own iCloud or Google Drive and you want more. Plus has no item limit, the Mac app and the extras. Pro, if you want York Cloud space, the web app, one library on iPhone and Android together, or shared albums. Family, if up to 6 people want Pro.

Is there a weekly plan?

No. Plus and Pro each have a monthly plan, a yearly plan with a free trial, and a one-time Lifetime purchase.

Does my plan come with me from iPhone to Android?

Yes. The plan follows your library, not the store. Move the library with phone-to-phone transfer, and Plus or Pro is on the new phone with no tap. The same is true from Android to iPhone. You still manage and cancel the plan in the store where you bought it. To keep using an iPhone and an Android phone with one library, sync between them needs Pro.

What happens when my plan ends?

Everything you added stays open. You can view, export, back up and restore every item. Shared albums you created turn read-only. York Vault deletes nothing in them. Only new items above the Free limit and the paid extras need a plan again.

Do you show ads to free users?

No. York Vault has no ads on any plan, now or later.

How do I cancel?

Cancel in the store where you bought your plan. Apple handles App Store subscriptions. Google Play handles Google Play subscriptions. In Google Play, open Subscriptions, choose York Vault, and tap Cancel subscription (Google Play Help). Removing the app does not cancel your plan. Cancel a subscription shows the steps for both stores.
