Feature
Is there a photo vault app with a private web browser?

York Vault has one, in Plus and Pro. Its browser keeps no history by default and keeps no cookies or site data after you close it. Touch and hold an image or a video to save it straight into your library, encrypted. It never lands in your photo library or your downloads folder. Tabs and bookmarks stay inside York Vault.
Why a browser inside a vault?
An image you save from the browser on your phone goes to your photo library or your downloads folder. From there, it shows up in your camera roll, in your photo backup and in search. To keep it private, you have to move it into a vault and then delete the original.
A private tab does not fix that. Google says this about Chrome on Android: “Files that you download will remain on your device until you delete them.” That is true in Incognito too. So the private part covers your history, not your saved files.
The York Vault browser closes that gap. A saved image goes straight into your library, encrypted. It never touches your photo library or your downloads.
What the York Vault browser does
The browser is in Plus and Pro, on iPhone, iPad and Android.

- Save to your library. Touch and hold an image or a video, then save it. It goes into the album you pick, encrypted.
- No history by default. York Vault does not keep a list of the pages you visited.
- No stored site data. The browser keeps cookies and site data for the session only. When you close it, they are gone.
- Tabs. Open more than one page at a time.
- Bookmarks inside your library. Your bookmarks stay inside York Vault, behind your code. They do not appear in Safari or Chrome.
- Behind your lock. The browser opens only after you open York Vault. When York Vault locks, the browser locks too.
Screenshots follow the platform. Android blocks screenshots on every York Vault screen, including the browser. iOS lets no app block a screenshot. So on iPhone and iPad, York Vault blanks the screen during recording and mirroring instead.
How it compares with Safari and Chrome
| Safari Private Browsing | Chrome Incognito (Android) | York Vault browser | |
|---|---|---|---|
| History | Not in History | Not kept after the session | Not kept by default |
| Saved images | Saved like any other image | Stay on the device until you delete them | Go into your encrypted library |
| Lock | Locks when not in use, with your passcode | A setting can lock Incognito tabs | Behind your York Vault code |
| Plan | Built in | Built in | Plus and Pro |
Apple says private tabs do not appear in History. If you set a passcode, Private Browsing locks when you do not use it. Google says Chrome keeps no site data and no record of the sites you visited after an Incognito session ends. Both built-in modes do their job for history. Neither one keeps a saved photo out of your files.
What a private browser does not hide
Google is clear about Incognito. It says Incognito does not make you invisible. The sites you visit, and the network you use, can still see your activity. The same is true of the York Vault browser and of every other private browser. York Vault keeps your activity off this phone. It does not hide it from the internet, and it is not a VPN.
How other vault apps do it
| App | Browser | Where we read it |
|---|---|---|
| Private Photo Vault | “Private Web Browser”, “Download Photos directly to the app”. | App Store listing |
| LockMyPix | A private browser. Its app text gives 2 tabs free and unlimited tabs with Premium. | App Store listing and app text |
| SPV | “Browse the Internet, without leaving any traces”. Its free plan allows 1 tab. | App Store listing and app config |

Where to go next
Sort what you save with albums and organizing. For photos you take yourself, the private camera also skips the camera roll. If someone walks up while you browse, quick exit closes York Vault fast. Everything you save goes into your encrypted backup. See pricing for what each plan includes.
Questions people ask
Is there a photo vault with a web browser?
Yes. Private Photo Vault, LockMyPix and SPV all have one, and some limit the number of tabs on their free plan. York Vault has a browser in Plus and Pro. It keeps no history by default and saves images and videos straight into your encrypted library.
Does Incognito mode keep my downloads?
Yes. Google says that Chrome keeps files you download in Incognito on your device until you delete them. So a photo you save in Incognito still sits in your downloads. In the York Vault browser, a saved image goes into your library, encrypted, and nowhere else.
Can my internet provider see what I browse in a vault browser?
Yes, it can. A private browser keeps your activity off the phone. It does not hide it from the sites you visit, your network or your internet provider. Google says the same about Incognito. York Vault is not a VPN.
Is the private browser free?
No. The browser is in Plus and Pro. Your saved items stay yours in every billing state. If your plan ends, you can still view, export and restore everything you saved with it. See the pricing page for what each plan includes.
Does the browser keep a history?
Not by default. The browser keeps no history, and it keeps no cookies or site data after you close it. Your bookmarks stay inside York Vault, behind your code, so they do not show in the browser of your phone.
