About York Vault
Updated
York Vault is a private photo, video and file vault for iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tablets. Plus adds a Mac app, and Pro adds a web app at app.yorkvault.com. Download it on the App Store or Google Play.
Why we built it
Many people keep photos that are not for everyone who picks up their phone: IDs, medical records, a surprise, a past relationship, work they cannot share yet. The apps they use today often lose those photos, hold them behind a paywall, or announce what they are with a vault icon and fear words.
Before we wrote any code, we studied 8 photo vault apps and read 836 of their App Store reviews. The most common complaint was lost photos (136 reviews). The next were paywalls that lock people out of their own files, and apps that give themselves away to the person nearby. York Vault is built against each of those.
How we work
- Proof, not promises. We describe what the app does, with numbers, and we publish the security design.
- Your files are never held hostage. Viewing, export and restore of your own items stay free on every plan. Pricing.
- No ads. Not now, not later.
- Every guide is checked. Guides show who wrote them, the date we last checked them, and the sources, starting with Apple’s and Google’s own documentation.
