How do I cancel my York Vault subscription?
Updated

You cancel in the store that bills you. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap York Vault, then tap Cancel Subscription. On Android, open your subscriptions in Google Play, select York Vault, then tap Cancel subscription. Your plan stays on until the end of the period you paid for. After that, you can still view, export and restore every item. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
Why you cancel in the store
York Vault sells Plus, Pro and Family through the App Store and Google Play. Apple or Google takes the payment, holds the subscription and handles cancellations and refunds. We cannot cancel a subscription for you, and we never see your card. The iPhone, iPad and Mac steps below come from Apple’s support page Cancel a subscription from Apple, published September 29, 2026. The Android steps come from the Google page Cancel, pause, or change a subscription on Google Play, checked on 2026-10-02.
Find the store that bills you
Your plan follows your library. It works on every device where that library is: iPhone, iPad, Mac or Android. You cancel it only in the store where you bought it. If you bought on the App Store and now use an Android phone, cancel through Apple. York Vault shows which store bills you in Settings, then Subscription.
Cancel on iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap York Vault.
- Tap Cancel Subscription. You might need to scroll down to find it.
If there is no Cancel button, or you see an expiration message in red text, the subscription is already canceled.
Cancel on Android
- On your Android phone or tablet, go to your subscriptions in Google Play.
- Select York Vault.
- Tap Cancel subscription.
- Follow the instructions.
Google says that after you cancel, you can still use the subscription for the time you already paid. Google also says that the subscription does not cancel when you uninstall the app.
Cancel from inside York Vault
York Vault opens the subscription screen of the store you bought from.

- In York Vault, go to Settings, then Subscription. The screen shows your plan, the renewal date and the store that bills you.
- Tap Manage. On iPhone, the App Store subscription sheet opens. On Android, your subscriptions in Google Play open.
- Tap Cancel Subscription, or Cancel subscription on Android.
A short screen in York Vault then tells you what stays free. It shows no countdown and no guilt message.
Cancel on a Mac
- Open the App Store.
- Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar. If you are not signed in, click Sign In first.
- On the page that appears, click your name again. You might need to sign in.
- Click Subscriptions.
- Click York Vault.
- Click Cancel Subscription.
If you cannot find the subscription
For an App Store purchase, Apple suggests these checks:
- Search your email for “receipt from Apple” or “invoice from Apple”. The receipt shows which Apple Account paid.
- If a family member’s Apple Account is on the receipt, that person has to cancel it.
- If another Apple Account that you use is on the receipt, sign in with that account and cancel there.
What happens after you cancel
- Your plan stays on until the end of the period you paid for. York Vault shows the date, for example: “Pro ends Oct 8. After that, you can still view, export and restore every item.”
- Every item stays open. Viewing, export, Trash recovery, backup and restore stay free.
- Your cover code, erase code and album codes keep working.
- Shared albums that you created turn read-only. York Vault deletes nothing in them.
- New items above the Free limit need Plus or Pro.
See What stays free for the full list.

Trials
On the App Store, cancel a trial at least 24 hours before it ends to avoid the charge. Apple sets this rule. York Vault shows the trial end date and the price before you start. When a trial ends without a purchase, York Vault locks no item.
Lifetime
If you buy Lifetime while you have a subscription, cancel the subscription so it does not renew. York Vault opens the subscription screen of your store for this and shows when the subscription ends. Lifetime itself never expires.
Refunds
Apple decides refunds for App Store purchases. To ask, follow Apple’s page Request a refund:
- Sign in to reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Choose I’d like to, then Request a refund.
- Choose the reason, then Next.
- Choose the York Vault purchase, then Submit.
Apple says to wait 24 to 48 hours for an update.
Google Play decides refunds for purchases made there. To ask, follow the Google page Request a refund on Google Play, checked on 2026-10-02:
- Go to play.google.com.
- At the top right, click your profile picture.
- Click Payments & subscriptions, then Budget & order history.
- For the York Vault order, click Report a problem.
- Select the option that describes your situation, complete the form and note that you want a refund.
- Click Submit.
Google says a decision usually comes within 1 day and can take up to 4 days. If more than 48 hours passed since the purchase, Google asks you to contact the developer, so write to support. For any other billing question, write to support too.
Questions
Does deleting York Vault cancel my subscription?
No. Apple or Google bills the subscription through your store account, not through the app. Deleting York Vault leaves the subscription active, and it can also delete items that are only on this phone. Cancel in the store instead. On iPhone, that is Settings, your name, Subscriptions. On Android, it is your subscriptions in Google Play.
How do I cancel a free trial before I pay?
Cancel the trial the same way as a subscription, in the store you used. On the App Store, Apple asks you to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. York Vault shows the trial end date on the paywall and can remind you 2 days before.
Can I get a refund for York Vault?
Apple and Google handle refunds for purchases in their stores, so we cannot issue them ourselves. For the App Store, sign in to reportaproblem.apple.com and choose Request a refund. For Google Play, go to play.google.com, open Budget & order history and choose Report a problem for the order.
