    How it works

    1. Open. Your browser opens each image. It turns phone photos the right way up. For HEIC in Chrome, Edge and Firefox, the page loads an open source HEIC decoder from yorkvault.com.
    2. Draw. The tool draws the picture at full size. For JPEG, it fills transparent parts with the background color you chose.
    3. Save. The browser writes the new file at the quality you set. The file has no EXIF, XMP or IPTC data. It keeps the color profile, so a Display P3 photo from an iPhone keeps its colors.

    Questions people ask

Does this converter upload my images?

No. Your browser opens each image and writes the new file on your device. No image or file name goes to our server or to anyone else. To check, load this page, turn off Wi-Fi, and convert a PNG or JPEG. The tool still works.

How do I convert PNG to JPG?

Add the PNG files, choose JPEG under Save as, and set the quality. The tool converts each file at once. Download them one by one, or all in a zip. If the PNG has a transparent background, choose the color that fills it. JPEG cannot store transparency.

How do I convert WebP to JPG or PNG?

Add the WebP files, then choose JPEG or PNG under Save as. Choose PNG to keep a transparent background. An animated WebP becomes one still image of its first frame. Many websites serve WebP, so a saved web image is often WebP even when its name ends in .jpg.

Does converting an image lower its quality?

PNG is lossless, so a PNG copy keeps every pixel. JPEG and WebP compress the picture, so each save loses a little detail. At 90% or more, the loss is hard to see. Converting a JPEG to PNG does not bring back detail that the JPEG already lost. It only makes a larger file.

Which format should I choose: JPG, PNG or WebP?

Choose JPEG for photos that must open everywhere. Choose PNG for screenshots, logos and images with text or a transparent background. Choose WebP for websites: Google measures lossy WebP at 25 to 34% smaller than JPEG, and lossless WebP at 26% smaller than PNG.

Does the new file keep the EXIF data?

No. The new file has no EXIF, XMP or IPTC data, so it holds no location, date or camera details. It keeps the color profile, so the colors look the same. To see the metadata of a photo before you convert it, add it to the location and metadata remover on this site.
